ugo est un artiste multidisciplinaire œuvrant dans le domaine des arts vivants depuis plus de 10 ans. Il commence sa carrière en arts du cirque à l’âge de 20 ans et se distingue à travers le monde avec des compagnies de cirque tel que Cirque du Soleil et Flip-Fabrique. Dernièrement, il a décidé de concrétiser sa vision et son œil artistique en suivant une formation de photographie professionnelle au collège Marsan. Ayant exploité le corps tout au long de sa vie, il explore et photographie maintenant celui-ci sous différentes perspectives. Étant un artiste engagé, il se concentre principalement sur la sexualité et l’intimité des hommes de la communauté LGBTQ+. Son ambition est de figer un moment familier, produire des émotions franches, créer une tension sensible et de contester les normes.
Hugo is a multidisciplinary artist who has been working in the field of live arts for over 10 years. He began his career in circus arts at the age of 20 and has distinguished himself throughout the world with circus companies such as Cirque du Soleil and Flip-Fabrique. Recently, he decided to concretize his vision and artistic eye by following a professional photography course at Marsan College. Having utilized the body throughout his life, he now explores and photographs it from different perspectives. Being an engaged artist, his main focus is on the sexuality and intimacy of men from the LGBTQ+ community. His ambition is to freeze a familiar moment, produce frank emotions, create a sensitive tension and challenge norms.
Démarche Artistique
La sexualité est partie prenante de la société et plus particulièrement dans notre communauté. Ma démarche a pour but de m’approprier mon identité Queer, d’accepter mes fantasmes et de démontrer la banalité de cette sexualité au quotidien. Ma recherche porte sur l’exploration d’un désir plus intimiste, un « safe space » qui transcende la lentille et la création d’un moment unique et personnel.
Je suis actuellement en train de construire et approfondir mon projet personnel nommé Projet John. La dénomination « John Doe » apparaît en 1768 dans le système juridique anglais, où elle désigne un plaignant inconnu. La ligne directrice de ce projet est de garder l’anonymat pour m’immiscer sans limites dans l’intimité du modèle. La sélection de ceux-ci se fait majoritairement à travers les applications afin de répertorier un véritable portrait de notre communauté en termes de diversité corporelle et de fantasmes et fétiches. L’intention de ce projet est de démystifier l’érotisme masculin, briser le tabou autour de la sexualité et ouvrir toute discussion à propos de la santé sexuelle des hommes GBTQ+. J’ai utilisé des procédés photographiques tels que le flou et le « freelensing » afin de conserver une distance entre l’acte et le spectateur et d’étendre la discussion à un public plus large.
Sexuality is an integral part of society, especially in our community. My approach is to take ownership of my queer identity, to embrace my fantasies and to demonstrate the banality of this sexuality in everyday life. My research is about exploring a more intimate desire, a safe space that transcends the lens and creating a unique and personal moment.
I am currently making and deepening my personal project called John Project. The name « John Doe » appeared in 1768 in the English legal system, where it referred to an unknown plaintiff. The guideline of this project is to maintain anonymity to immerse myself without limits in the intimacy of the model. The selection of the models is done mainly through the applications in order to list a true portrait of our community in terms of body diversity, fantasies and fetishes. The intention of this project is to demystify male eroticism, break the taboo around sexuality and open up any discussion about the sexual health of GBTQ+ men. I used photographic techniques such as blurring and freelensing to maintain a distance between the act and the viewer and to extend the discussion to a wider audience.
